Eco Oro holds more than 30,000 hectares of exploration concessions in the Vetas California gold district, less than 10% of which has been evaluated. In addition to the California District, Eco Oro is conducting regional exploration for gold targets in the departments of Caldas, Norte de Santander and Santander and has applied for 16 mining titles covering 80,000 hectares in these regions.
Current exploration is focused on four satellite gold deposits: Armenia, La Plata, La Violetal and Móngora. These are in the vicinity of Angostura and have the potential to provide additional feed to the Angostura mill:
Móngora
The Móngora project lies at an elevation of 2,700 m, approximately 3 km south of Angostura. It is similar in both geology and mineralization to the flagship deposit.
To date, 58 drill holes comprising 20,276 m have been completed at Móngora. Highlights include 15.3 g/t gold and 6.5 g/t silver over 4.7 m at a depth of 9 m and 8.6 g/t gold and 9.3 g/t silver over 8.9 m at a depth of 92 m. Current drilling is focused on a gold-in-soil geochemical anomaly that extends to the west and southwest and connects with a gold-in-soil anomaly corresponding to significant mineralized structures in the Violetal area adjacent to Móngora. Mineralization remains open along strike and at depth (see Eco Oro's News Release dated September 20, 2011, which is available on this website).
An initial mineral resource estimate for Móngora is currently being completed.
La Plata
The La Plata property consists of 78 hectares of mineral rights about 5 km southwest of Angostura along the same mineralized belt. The belt is related to the northeast-southwest-trending La Baja fault and hosts several gold-silver occurrences traditionally mined by artisanal miners.
Mineralization occurs in sheeted faulted veins which strike north-east and east-west and dip steeply to the north and south. The distribution of the alteration and mineralization is controlled by a system of fracturing within the dacite porphyry host rock. Rock samples from mine tunnels have returned assays of up to 9.66 g/t gold and 94.3 g/t silver.
More than 7,000 m of core drilling have been completed since 2010. Highlights include 8 m grading 5.2 g/t gold and 32.6 g/t silver and 18.2 m grading 4.6 g/t gold and 32.2 g/t silver. Future drilling will focus on defining the extent of the mineralization (see Eco Oro's News Release of April 16, 2011, which is available on this website.
Armenia
Armenia is located to the north-west of Angostura and is adjacent to the Angostura deposit. Although some artisanal mining occurred in the past, the mineral deposit has yet to be explored.
